Dynamics 365 is a re-packaging of Microsoft’s ERP and Customer Engagement(CRM) solutions. Earlier we had Microsoft Dynamics stack which is nothing but the group of 6 enterprise applications from Microsoft – 1 Customer Engagement(CRM) and 5 ERP applications.
Microsoft Dynamics Stack/Suite are listed below:
- Dynamics Customer Engagement(CRM)
- Dynamics AX (Axapta)
- Dynamics NAV ( Navision)
- Dynamics GP ( Great Plains)
- Dynamics SL ( Solomen)
- Dynamics C5
Out of these only, the first one is the Customer Engagement(CRM) and rest are ERP applications from Microsoft for different domains and market segments.
On-premise and online:
For most of these applications both on-premise and online( cloud) versions are available. In November 2016 Microsoft has come up with the ‘re-packaging’ of these apps. They had taken the modules from Customer Engagement(CRM) ( Sales, Customer Service, Marketing etc) and ERP( Finance and Operations, Talent, Project service Automation etc) and renamed to Dynamics 365.
Dynamics is more than Customer Engagement(CRM), it is the combination of Customer Engagement(CRM) and ERP apps where businesses can purchase individual or multiple apps together.
